The Study of Relationship Between Corporate Characteristics and Voluntary Disclosure in Tehran Stock Exchange

Abstract: A transparent capital market is necessary to gain the confidence of investors to invest in the stock exchange. The main objective of this research is to investigate the relationship between corporate characteristics and voluntary disclosure in various industries. In this research, firm size, firm age, board of directors’ combination, debt ratio, profitability ratio, free cash flow, audit firm size were selected as independent variables and voluntary disclosure was selected as dependent variable and industry type was selected as control variable. In this regard, data of selected 104 firms, over the period of 2006-2012 were analyzed to examine the relationship between variables to test the hypothesis through panel data structure. By testing research hypothesis and with the respect to significant level of hypothesis there is positive significant relationship between firm size and voluntary disclosure quality and there is inverse significant relationship between debt ratio, profitability ratio and voluntary disclosure quality and there is significant difference between effective factors for voluntary disclosure of information among different industries.
