Synthesis of Hyperbranched Polymers and Study of its Optical Properties

Abstract: Thiobarbituric acid and 1,3-cyclohexanedion have been condensed with aromatic aldehyde. The resultant compounds have been polymerised with different dihaloalkanes to give hyperbranched polymers. The optical properties of the prepared polymers have been examined. The transmittance, reflectance, absorption coefficient, extinction coefficient, refractive index, dielectric constant (real and imaginary) and optical connectivity as optical properties had been measured.
