Preparation of Nano Hydroxyapatite from Oyster Shell

Authors : Shaker Jahil Edrees

Abstract: Because autograft and allograft have major defect whilst used as a bone grafting materials, large number man-made grafts has been developed as replacement for traditional bone grafting. Calcium phosphate are among the most widely used as bone scaffold because of its degradation and biocompatible properties. Amongst those materials hydroxyapatite is chemically, structurally just like biological apatite’s and have excellent natural and physiological properties for bone graft uses. Nano hydroxyapatite was efficiently constructed from coral shell and phosphoric acid, depending on the concentration of raw materials. The produced substances had been characterized by X ray diffraction, test electron microscopy and FTIR0.0056 mol of CaO and 2 mL H3PO4 in 100 mL H2O become more effective to produce nano hydroxyapatite.
