Abstract: Investment in women for increasing their health, nutrition and educational status is very productive. But gender inequity in health, nutrition and education is found in many developing countries in many forms. The objective of this paper is to examine the level of gender inequity prevailing in respect to health, nutrition and educational status in Bangladesh. It is found from the secondary information of various sources that gender inequity exists considerably in the rural areas in Bangladesh. Although government has already taken a good number of measures, some more need to be taken for improving the gender balances. They are as follows: (i) increasing the access of rural women to health care, (ii) increasing women empowerment, (iii) decreasing the drop out rate of girl students from the primary and secondary schools; and (iv) encouraging women in the formal sector.
