Economic Valuation of Water (Case Study: The Cucumber Greenhouse of Khash)

Abstract: Economic valuing is one of the complex subjects specially when there are no markets or they don’t work efficiently, other non-market methods are used to determine the value. The value of resources is determined based on the goals or certain purposes of the use ofthat resource reflecting the share of them in order to meet these goals. Although, the goals of improving income distributions, the promotion of environmental quality and the desires for non-market goals are significant and important, the goal of economic efficiency has a special importance among the water users (consumers) that is a result of the lack of water resources and an increasing competition. The purpose of this research is the calculation the shadow price of water in Khash. The valuing method has been used based on Residual Imputation. Data for this research have been collected from 151 cucumber greenhouses in 2011-2012.
