A Resource Search and Download Protocol for Peer to Peer Ad Hoc Networks

Authors : D. Jayashree and P. Yogesh

Abstract: Sharing digital resources among the peers in a virtual overlay network places stringent constrains in the underlying physical network. In this research, the underlying network is a Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET). Hence, constrains on the network resources are even more stringent. In a mobile Peer to Peer (P2P) network, the resource transaction has to take place through mobile devices. The mobility of the nodes causes higher delay and overhead in the process of route discovery and retrieval of resources in P2P networks. In this research, researchers propose a resource accessing scheme to enable continuous resource retrieval by the mobile devices and the scheme is based on a multicast protocol that is deployed in the overlay network. Groups are created based on the content and a cross layer approach is followed between the network layer and application layer to reduce the search latency and to make the overlay network a proximity aware one.
