The Role of Japan Towards the Independence of Bangladesh

Abstract: The main objective of this paper was to examine the role of Japan towards the independence of Bangladesh in 1971. This paper critically examined the role of the Japanese media, Journalists, intellectuals, politicians, the government and the people in formulating the pro-Bangladesh opinion among the Japanese and international community. The exclusive press coverage programs in the radio Japan, NHK, editorials, political commentaries, etc., both in English and Japanese played a significant role. During the freedom struggle people from different professional category like teachers, students, the business community, politicians and intellectuals provided their heartfelt support for the freedom struggle of Bangladesh. Different individual like Mr. Takashi Hayakawa and different organization like Nihon Bengaru Tomo No Kai, Bangladesh Solidarity Front etc. helped to gain support in favour of Bangladesh. Japanese government also played a vital role towards the independence of Bangladesh.
