Abstract: The purpose of this article is to consider the nature of the wealth management market, its size, its potential for growth and its major participants. Demographic and global wealth trends confirm that the market has grown quickly in recent years (despite recent economic uncertainties) and it holds great future potential, despite its fragmented supply. This section also uses Porter`s ‘five forces` model of industry profitability to assess the market impact of e-commerce, finding that entry barriers are falling and competition growing, yet the threat of substitution and price competition is only modest – even through the power of buyers over sellers is growing.
