Abstract: Escalation in computer hacking crimes in recent time had created an urgent need to enhance data security. The main emphasis of this study is to apply the star distance data hiding (SDDH) technique by first encrypting important data and then hiding it in an image. The data is parsed through a series of transformation processes that results in a sequence of decimals values. These values determine the exact locations of center key points of stars and their corresponding key points making the stars. Data security is assured as the existence of the data is concealed within each star. Even when an image is distorted from printing, scanning and image manipulations, the hidden data can still be fully restored. Results from this technique suggest that this technique can be used to replace traditional postages with e-stamps that are implemented by hiding information like date published, price and publications on the envelope.
