Abstract: The degradation kinetics and residual levels of abamectin (Abalone 1.8% EC) were estimated in cucumberunder field conditions by employing a validated Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe (QuEChERS) Method followed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography with Diode Arraydetector (HPLC-DAD) for quantification. At fortification levels of 0.05, 0.1, 0.25 and 0.5 mg kg-1, it was shown recovery was 92% with Coefficient Variation (CV%) was <9% in cucumber tubers. The LOQ for cucumber was found to be 0.03 μg kg-1. After one single application of abamectinthe average residues levelin cucumber was observed to be 0.65 mg kg-1 after 1 day of application. The terminal residues of abamectin were below the maximum residue limit (MRL 0.01 mg kg-1) after 10 days at a single dosage. Half-life of abamectin was observed to be 2.38 days, at the recommended dosage which considered to be safe for human beings. These data could provide guidance for the proper and safe use of this pesticide on vegetable-field ecosystems.
