Functional Need Analysis of Knowledge Portal Design in Higher Education Institution

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the functional need of knowledge portal design for lecturer (faculty/lecturer) in knowledge management system concept-based college as part of the implementation of knowledge management. The methodology used in compiling this study is the development research oriented towards practical problem solving with information resources of literature review, observation, interview and researcher’s experience. The result of this study requires that the knowledge portal must to be able to cover portal knowledge management activities such as knowledge acquisition/creation, knowledge sharing, knowledge storage and knowledge utilization. The conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that the existence of knowledge portal constitutes a support for the implementation of knowledge management in order to work effectively and efficiently.
