Asymptotic Properties and Sensitivity Analysis for Lymphatic Filariasis Model

Authors : A. Jaichuang and W. Chinviriyasit

Abstract: A deterministic model for the transmission dynamics of Lymphatic Fifilariasis (LF) is formulated and analyszed. By using suitable Lyapunov functions and LaSalles invariance principle, we prove the global asymptotic stability of the all equilibria of the model. It is shown that the model has a globally-asymptotically stable disease-free equilibrium whenever the threshold value called the reproductive number (R0) is less than unity. If R0>1, the model has a unique endemic equilibrium and it is locally asymptotically stable in the interior of the feasible region and the disease will persist at the endemic equilibrium if it is initially present. The sensitivity analysis based on the mathematical technique has been performed to determine the importance of the model parameters in making strategies for controlling LF.
