Abstract: A model which correlate visibility with fraction of sunshine hours was formulated for estimating the monthly mean visibility at Sokoto (13°31N, 8°'E), Nigeria, West Africa are presented. Visibility covering a period of 5 years (2002-2006), obtained from the Meteorological Department Sultan Abubakar (III) International Airport Sokoto. The prediction of the model and the measured visibility was tested using the correlation coefficient and percentage absolute error method. The model was found to be V = 34.55-31.10 (n/N). This could be used to obtain an on the spot estimate of the visibility when required.
